Pura agung Besakih

Pura agung Besakih located in Besakih Countryside, District of Rendang, residing in bevel westside Agung Mount which represent highest mount in Bali. Access from Town of Denpasar to reach this place apart about 25 km northwards from Semarapura town – Sub-Province of Klungkung.

Journey go to Pura Besakih passing view of jambul hill which also represent one of the interest place fromSub-Province of Karangasem.

Location of Pura Besakih intend to be selected in holy countryside assumed because its high locationtion, so called Hulundang Basukih which to be Besakih village. Name of Besakih take from sansekerta language, wasuki or in Ancient Javanese,the meaning basuki is safe. Besides that, name of Pura Besakih also constituted by mithologi Basuki dragon as Mandara mount well balance.

Many ommission of megalitik epoch, like borning, stone throne, terrace pyramid structure found in Pura Besakih complex indicate that as sanctified place likely Besakih come from very old epoch, far before existence of Hinduism influence.

Complex of Pura Besakih pursuant building to nature balance in Three Hita Karana concept, where it settlement is accomodated pursuant a wind eye direction for its building structure can deputize nature as symbolism of the balance. Every wind eye referred as mandala with power deity so-called “ Deity Catur Lokapala” and middle of mandala is it axis, so fifth mandala referred become "Panca Dewata".

2. Pura gelap at Eastward to worship Içwara Deity.

3. Pura Kiduling Kereteg at southward to worship Dewa Brahma.

4. Pura Ulun Kulkul at Western to worship Mahadewa Deity.

5. Pura Batumadeg at North direction to worship Wisnu Deity.
