Barong Dance

On the way when go to Ubud or Kintamani, after pass over Sanur, we will reach Batubulan. In this area, same as with Ubud, many there are artistic shops and handicraft. But us to Batubulan not to go shopping, but witness dance of Barong that famous.

Barong Ket or Barong Keket is Barong dance which at most there are in Bali and most often show and also have complete dance motion bursar. from its form, Barong Ket represent solidarity between lion, tiger, cow or boma. Body of Barong is dotted with engravings made by husk, patched some mirror glass and her fur is made by perasok ( fibre of leaf), ijuk or is also from crow plumage.


For the attraction of Barong, this is carried by two dancer people [is so-called Expert of Saluk / Expert of Bapang], one dancer in head and other in bottom and tail. Barong Keket Dance portray about contention of benefaction and badnes( dharma and adharma) representing mixture which always contrary ( bhineda rwa). Barong Ket Dance accompanied with Semar Pagulingan gamelan.

From some source, there is telling this dance Originally come from Chinese because looking like dance of Barongsai. But although where from even also its genuiness, is no problem, because its loaded dance will assess story as well as fresh humour.
